Massage Therapy
Massage therapy creates a conversation between you and your body. This conversation builds trust that you can listen to what your body needs before it creates a symptom or dis-ease to get your attention. Through massage therapy we begin to feel where we are tight or holding onto emotional energy and how to release it through the breath. I started my journey with massage therapy in 1992 when I graduated from Body Therapy Institute in Santa Barbara, California. It was a journey of many realizations about how in Western culture we form an early conditioning to ignore our bodies instructions or messages. We are told to not take care of ourselves even when we feel unwell. We take over the counter drugs to 'keep going' to attain the status of never calling in 'sick'. This accolade only results in the body becoming increasingly desperate to be heard so it creates louder and louder symptoms. And as a result we have created a whole industry around this ignoring to become a huge trillion dollar money making endeavor for those who capitalize on our simply not listening to when our body wants to rest, eat well, feel better.
Massage not only creates a conversation with our bodies but it releases excess oxidation which results from a build up of free radicals built up from stress and processed foods which inhibit the natural functioning of the immune system, basic metabolic processes and the natural waste management system. When the body relaxes and is in a restful state the organs begin to process waste so the normal functions can begin to work better. When we have poor sleep or eating habits, and in a constant state of dehydration our body suffers.
I consider Massage Therapy not a luxury but a necessary part of our health regime. When we take the time to allow a catching up of metabolic processes to get rid of excess toxins we can begin to build up our body to a whole new level of health and even eliminate a road of epigenetic triggers for cancer.
